Merry Christmas!

Well, the day has come at last!  Christmas Eve, 2014.  As we gather with friends and family to celebrate our Lord’s birth, we hear again the echoes of the angels’ song:

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

Nativity

Two hundred years ago today, the citizens of the United States, Great Britain, and Canada had a special reason to rejoice.  On Christmas Eve, 1814 the signing of the Treaty of Ghent brought the War of 1812 to a conclusion.  Although it would take several months for the news to reach the North American frontiers, this Christmas brought the blessing of peace to the people of three nations.

In Miss Macintosh, our heroines are also wishing for a peaceful conclusion to their Christmas adventure.  But will their journey through the storm lead to a happy ending?  Or are they still as far as ever from finding their way home?
